Schloss Johannisberg has been selected as one of the top 5 best wine tourism destinations
Each year World's Best Vineyards reveals the top 50 of the world’s best wine tourism experiences and once again Schloss Johannisberg is among the best of those selected. The Domain takes great pride in being ranked 5th worldwide and 3rd in Europe.
Where do connoisseurs find the best locations for tasting excellent wines, where they can also learn about grape-growing and the wine-making process? The Members of the World’s Best Vineyards team have made it their business to find these exceptional places and make them known. The overall package is what counts: a stunning view, restaurants boasting first-class cuisine, luxurious overnight accommodation – these are just some of the features one can expect to find at all of the Top 50 wine tourism destinations. The prestigious list, covering five continents and including the finest wine estate experiences world-wide, is compiled by an international jury.
For the third time consecutively, Schloss Johannisberg was elected to the top 10 of the best wine estate experiences. This is the highest recognition of any German wine estate and, in addition, it was also voted third best European estate. “This award is an honour and confirmation of our long-standing efforts and our company philosophy”, said Stefan Doktor, estate manager at Schloss Johannisberg. “Our passion for the estate is our daily driving force in the production of excellent Riesling wines, while maintaining the traditions and history of the Rheingau region. For this to be acknowledged by an exclusive expert jury is for us both obligation and commitment. It is a great feeling to be classed one of the best of the best, but the award also shows us that there is room for improvement and we are ambitious enough to want to expand our slumbering potential further.”
